I had the pleasure of introducing a friend to Stanford's Arizona Garden today. No matter how many times I go there, I always see something new. Here are a few photos I snapped! Finally, I checked on the huge agave blue glow that I've taken pics of before. But this time, I noticed that there are pups growing out from the middle of the agave. I've never seen this growth pattern in the absence of coring. What's going on? Other blue glows I've seen pup out (if at all) from the sides, not the middle.

What is that red one, the first photo? It looks incredible. 6/8/2015 03:02:21 pm
Dang! How did I miss this garden when I visited Stanford last year? Your photos make me really want to see it! New plants often form in an agave's center when the meristem is damaged, either deliberately (coring) or accidentally (frost or snow). 7/30/2015 08:29:48 am
OK, I *must* go there. Maybe we can meet up there someday? Preferably in milder weather :-) Comments are closed.
